Terms of Service

Last updated: 31 August 2026 · Version: 1.1

1. Who these terms are between

These terms form an agreement between you (the user of In Your Dreams, referred to as "you") and Inside Your Library (referred to as "we", "us", or "our"), the operator of the In Your Dreams service.

Inside Your Library is a trading name operating out of Queensland, Australia. For all queries relating to these terms, please contact us at [email protected].

These terms cover every version of the service: the website and web app at inyourdreams.app, the public archive at dreamometer.app, and the In Your Dreams Android app distributed through Google Play.

2. What In Your Dreams is

In Your Dreams is a dream service with two parts.

The free historical symbol reading draws on our library of historical dream texts spanning antiquity to the early twentieth century, including works by Artemidorus, Fontaine, Miller, Freud, Ellis and an anonymous 1894 fortune-telling dream-book. The interpretation you read back is assembled on our own servers from that library and is not written by an AI model. One step in the free path does use one: a small automated check reviews the symbols our word-matching tool found and removes any that are not really images in your dream. It can only remove candidates, never add them.

The paid personal interpretation, and interpretations generated under a membership, combine that same historical library with AI-assisted synthesis to produce a written reading of the dream as a whole, together with an AI-generated illustration of it.

The service also includes the Dreamometer™, a public record of dream theme frequency that contributors may opt into.

Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly which providers receive your dream text at each of these steps.

3. Eligibility, 18 and over only

In Your Dreams is designed for adult reflection and is intended only for users aged 18 and over. By creating an account or using any paid feature of In Your Dreams, you represent and confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

If we become aware that an account has been created by or for a person under 18, we will terminate the account and delete associated content.

4. What we provide, and what we do not

What In Your Dreams is:

  • A creative and reflective tool drawing on historical dream-interpretation traditions
  • Entertainment and self-exploration for adults
  • A public archive that tracks anonymous dream themes contributed with user consent

What In Your Dreams is not:

  • Medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice
  • Legal, financial, career, or relationship counselling
  • A substitute for professional mental health support
  • Clinical or diagnostic in any way

You understand and accept that dream interpretations are subjective and interpretive in nature. Do not make significant decisions based solely on a reading. If you are experiencing emotional distress, please reach out to a qualified professional.

5. Accounts

  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • One account per person. Do not share your account credentials.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including accounts created by users under 18, accounts used to harass or target other people, and accounts used for automated or abusive access.
  • You may delete your account at any time, from Account, then Delete my account inside the app or on the web, or through our account deletion page, which works whether or not you have the app installed. You can also email us at [email protected].

6. Payments and subscriptions

In Your Dreams currently offers:

  • Single readings, bought one at a time
  • Dream Journal membership, a monthly subscription including up to 7 dream interpretations in any rolling seven-day period, together with your private dream journal, your Personal Dreamometer and your accumulated dream history
  • Gift readings, purchased on the web and redeemed by another person

Prices. The price you see at checkout, in your own currency, is the price you pay. In the Android app, prices are supplied by Google Play and shown in your local currency. On the web, prices are displayed in US dollars and any currency conversion is handled by your card issuer or by Stripe, not by us.

Who takes the payment. Purchases made on the web are processed by Stripe. Purchases made in the Android app are processed by Google Play Billing, under Google's own terms. We never receive your card details either way.

Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.

  • If you subscribed on the web, you can cancel at any time through your account or by emailing us.
  • If you subscribed in the Android app, the subscription belongs to your Google account and must be cancelled through Google Play, under Payments and subscriptions in the Play Store app. We are not able to cancel it for you.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period, and you keep full access until then.

After cancellation, the dreams you have written and the interpretations already produced for you remain readable and exportable. New interpretations, new dream imagery and the pattern analysis across your history require an active membership.

An annual plan was previously offered and has been withdrawn. Members who hold one keep it on the terms they purchased under until it ends.

7. Refunds

Single readings are non-refundable once the reading has been generated and delivered, because they are personalised digital products delivered at the moment of payment.

Subscription payments are non-refundable for the current billing period, but you can cancel future renewals at any time. You will not be charged for periods after cancellation.

Where to ask. Refunds for purchases made in the Android app are requested and issued through Google Play, because Google holds the payment. Refunds for purchases made on the web are handled by us.

Exceptions: If you believe a reading was not delivered due to a technical fault on our side, or if you were charged incorrectly, please contact [email protected] and we will review the matter fairly.

Full detail is in our Refund Policy. These refund terms do not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which apply wherever you bought.

8. Your content, your dreams

When you describe a dream through In Your Dreams:

  • You retain ownership of what you wrote.
  • You grant us a limited licence to process and interpret your dream in order to generate your reading, and, if you consent, to contribute anonymous theme data to the Dreamometer™.
  • We do not use your dream content to train AI models, and we do not sell it to third parties.
  • We do not publish your dream words, except through the featured-dream opt-in described in section 9.
  • You are responsible for what you write. Please do not paste personal identifying information about other people.

Paid readings are produced with the assistance of AI, using our historical dream dictionaries as the source of anything attributed to them, and the illustration accompanying a reading is AI-generated. You may keep, share, or refer to your own readings freely.

9. The Dreamometer™

If you choose to contribute to the Dreamometer™, the following is shared with the public archive: anonymised theme labels from your dream (for example "Falling", "Snake", "Hospital"), your selected mood, how the dream felt, your country, and an approximate location derived from your network connection, accurate to roughly city level, which appears as a point on the public dream map. Contributing to the Dreamometer™ never publishes your dream words, and nothing in the public archive identifies you.

Separately, a distinct checkbox offers to feature a short anonymous excerpt of your dream on the public Dreamometer™. That is the only circumstance in which any of your dream text becomes public. It is off unless you tick it, the excerpt is reviewed before anything appears, and you may ask for its removal at any time.

You can decline to contribute at any time using the consent checkbox on the dream submission form.

Dreamometer™ is a trademark of Inside Your Library.

10. Liability limits

We provide In Your Dreams "as is." We do not guarantee:

  • That readings will be accurate, meaningful, or useful
  • That the service will be available at all times without interruption
  • That dream interpretations are based on verified scientific consensus. They draw on historical and traditional sources alongside AI interpretation

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Inside Your Library is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from your use of In Your Dreams, including decisions you make based on readings.

These limits do not override non-excludable rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer protection laws.

11. Prohibited uses

You agree not to:

  • Use In Your Dreams if you are under 18
  • Attempt to automate, scrape, or overload the service
  • Submit content designed to harm, harass, or threaten others
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the interpretation system
  • Impersonate another person or create accounts under false pretences

12. Intellectual property

All branding, interface design, documentation, and source code of In Your Dreams is owned by Inside Your Library. You may not reproduce, rebrand, or republish the service.

Your individual readings belong to you. Inside Your Library retains rights to the system that generates them.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the app or via the email address associated with the account. Continued use of In Your Dreams after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms will be dealt with under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland, Australia.
