Gas

Gas often touches unseen influence that can harm — fumes of harsh opinion, the danger of carelessly entertaining enemies, the choice to light or extinguish. The dream may ask where an invisible force shapes how you treat others, what negligence might quietly endanger you, and whether you're kindling a way out or snuffing your own joy.

What the old dream-books say

These are the entries the historical dream-books record for gas, in their own words. They are period voices, not predictions, and they do not always agree with one another.

Gustavus Hindman Miller, 1901

Ten Thousand Dreams Interpreted

To dream of gas, denotes you will entertain harmful opinions of others, which will cause you to deal with them unjustly, and you will suffer consequent remorse. To think you are asphyxiated, denotes you will have trouble which you will needlessly incur through your own wastefulness and negligence. To try to blow gas out, signifies you will entertain enemies unconsciously, who will destroy you if you are not wary.

To extinguish gas, denotes you will ruthlessly destroy your own happiness. To light it, you will easily find a way out of oppressive ill fortune.

Fontaine, 1862

The Golden Wheel Dream-book

If you dream of bright and pleasant gas-lights, it shows success in love matters. If the gas is dim and looks unnatural, your beau or sweetheart will either leave you, or die.
