Cardinal

To see a cardinal in his robes in a dream is held unlucky in the old books — misfortune enough to force a removal to distant parts. The dream tends to touch the high ecclesiastical figure turned to ill omen, and to ask what reversal might be coming that uproots us, and what we should brace against being driven from.

What the old dream-books say

These are the entries the historical dream-books record for cardinal, in their own words. They are period voices, not predictions, and they do not always agree with one another.

Ten Thousand Dreams Interpreted

It is unlucky to dream you see a cardinal in his robes. You will meet such misfortunes as will necessitate your removal to distant or foreign lands to begin anew your ruined fortune. For a woman to dream this is a sign of her downfall through false promises. If priest or preacher is a spiritual adviser and his services are supposed to be needed, especially in the hour of temptation, then we find ourselves dreaming of him as a warning against approaching evil.
