Bread

Bread often arrives in dreams when the psyche senses what nourishes or sustains—whether material security, relational care, or the simple dailiness of feeding and being fed. The quality of the bread matters: stale or spoiled loaves may ask what has grown difficult to digest, while warm abundance whispers of sufficiency quietly met.

What the old dream-books say

These are the entries the historical dream-books record for bread, in their own words. They are period voices, not predictions, and they do not always agree with one another.

Ten Thousand Dreams Interpreted

For a woman to dream of eating bread, denotes that she will be afflicted with children of stubborn will, for whom she will spend many days of useless labor and worry.

To dream of breaking bread with others, indicates an assured competence through life.

To see a lot of impure bread, want and misery will burden the dreamer. If the bread is good and you have access to it, it is a favorable dream.

The Golden Wheel Dream-book

To dream of bread is an excellent sign. If you see a good deal, the better the dream. It foretells good fortune to either man or woman. To lovers it predicts that they will make a good match and be well off, if not rich. To farmers it promises full and abundant crops.
