Andirons

Andirons hold the fire in the hearth, and in dreams they often speak to the warmth among friends. Supporting burning logs, they mark good will and a living fire; in an empty grate, they can carry loss and cold. The dream tends to ask whether the hearth of our friendships is lit, or has gone out.

What the old dream-books say

These are the entries the historical dream-books record for andirons, in their own words. They are period voices, not predictions, and they do not always agree with one another.

Ten Thousand Dreams Interpreted

Andirons seen in a dream, denotes good will among friends, if the irons support burning logs; if they are in an empty fireplace, loss of property and death are signified.
