Alley
An alley is a narrow, in-between way — less open than a road, easy to feel hemmed in. In dreams it can mirror fortunes that feel less promising than before, or vexing cares pressing close. Walking one after dark can heighten the unease. The dream tends to ask where our path has narrowed, and what waits in the dimmer passages.

These are the entries the historical dream-books record for alley, in their own words. They are period voices, not predictions, and they do not always agree with one another.
Gustavus Hindman Miller, 1901
